Engineer 2 - Database Administration - Oracle SQL/Cloud

Location: Remote within the United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii; work hours must align with U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours.

What you will do

• Implement approved DDL and DML changes across production and non-production database environments.
• Commit, review, and deploy database scripts through Bitbucket and release management workflows.
• Review application-driven database changes and SQL for performance, security, operational safety, and recoverability.
• Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and alerts while supporting application teams with troubleshooting.
• Assist with database patching, upgrades, maintenance, backup, recovery, and restore validation.
• Manage database access and support data security practices, including PII awareness and customer data redaction.

Requirements

• 3+ years of production database administration experience with strong Oracle or PostgreSQL expertise.
• Strong SQL skills, including writing and reviewing complex queries and identifying inefficient or incorrect scripts.
• Experience with on-premises and cloud-based database environments, monitoring, alerting, performance analysis, and backup and recovery.
• Experience supporting application development teams with troubleshooting, release coordination, and change review.
• Experience with database user administration, access control, least-privilege practices, and version control such as Git or Bitbucket.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future work authorization sponsorship and must reside in the United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, replication, failover, and other cloud-managed database services.
• Experience with PL/SQL or PL/pgSQL, Oracle OEM, RMAN, and Data Guard.
• Experience with Terraform, Unix command-line environments, Shell, Python, or Perl.
• Knowledge of Agile, JIRA, Confluence, data governance, and security standards such as PCI.
