Freelance Software Engineer (Node)

Location: Paris, with a few days working from home

What you will do

• Take technical responsibility for one or more banking product projects.
• Design API-based banking products with the Product team.
• Improve the performance and scalability of systems handling rapidly growing load.
• Apply architecture rules and maintain automated test coverage.
• Work with reactive and distributed systems in a demanding regulated IT environment.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Software Developer with strong backend systems knowledge.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and backend optimization, including performance, observability, SQL queries, and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and distributed or microservice architectures.
• Fluent English required.
• Interest in continuous learning, functional programming, or open source, with a collaborative and low-ego mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience driving impactful projects from start to finish with Product teams.
• Experience designing highly complex systems for long-term scalability, clean architecture, and maintainability.
