Forward-Deployed Software Engineer (ML) (Python/SQL): Building and integrating feature pipelines and machine learning infrastructure for customer use cases in healthcare, finance, and recommendation systems with an accent on backend engineering, customer collaboration, and production ML systems. Focus on implementing Chalk technology across different environments, gathering requirements, and supporting technical engagements before and after sales.
Location: Japan; remote

What you will do
- Implement technology for customers and prospects across different environments.
- Build efficient feature pipelines for healthcare, finance, fraud prevention, identity verification, clean energy, and recommendation use cases.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Sales teams.
- Serve as the primary technical contact during pre-sales, customer onboarding, and post-sales support.
- Recommend products as customer needs evolve.
- Help interview and grow the Engineering team.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Experience writing software or building machine learning models.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, storytelling, and analytical skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Experience working closely with sales teams and customers.
- Experience with machine learning or data products and services.
- Understanding of MLOps and machine learning infrastructure.
- Previous experience as a forward-deployed engineer at a high-growth machine learning startup.
