TL;DR
Sr Operations Engineer (Linux/Python/Oracle): Installing, operating, monitoring, and optimizing production infrastructure, applications, databases, and external services with an accent on complex technical support, capacity planning, and performance analysis. Focus on diagnosing production errors through logs and database entries, resolving escalated incidents, and improving system reliability through benchmarking and continuous monitoring.
Location: United States (Florida - Tampa); flexible/remote work is offered.

What you will do
- Provide escalated technical support for complex application and infrastructure issues, lead problem management cases, and maintain ownership through resolution.
- Install, configure, monitor, maintain, support, and optimize production servers, hardware, software, databases, networks, and external services.
- Monitor production and application health, including system resources, file transfers, database activity, scheduled tasks, reports, dashboards, and logs.
- Analyze logs, database entries, processes, alarms, and performance metrics to diagnose errors, prioritize issues, and determine corrective actions.
- Support capacity planning, benchmarking, performance improvements, database design reviews, and production user acceptance testing.
- Clarify requirements with users, prioritize requests, create programs or processes, and communicate technical status to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics, telecommunications, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in application support, technical customer support, problem management, relational databases, programming, or software development.
- Proficiency with Linux, networking tools and protocols including DNS and tcpdump.
- Working knowledge of Python, Java, Bash, Oracle, and MySQL.
- Strong analytical, multitasking, troubleshooting, testing, customer service, and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with application design and architecture principles; operating system and database certifications are preferred.
