PHP Developer

Location: Colchester, UK; primarily office-based with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per year, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using PHP and Symfony.
• Design and develop REST APIs and microservices for internal and external integrations.
• Build scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
• Work with AWS services including EC2, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, CloudWatch, and RDS.
• Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and business teams to deliver new features.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and Agile delivery.

Requirements

• Around 3 years of commercial PHP development experience.
• Strong experience with the Symfony Framework.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with Linux and NGINX environments.
• Strong knowledge of Git, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, problem-solving, and collaborative communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Webpack, and modern JavaScript including ES6.
• Knowledge of Redis and Solr.
• Experience with website performance optimisation, SEO, or Google Tag Manager.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
