Embedded Firmware Engineer (RFID)

Location: Cardiff, Wales, UK. Applicants must already be legally authorized to reside and work in the UK; international relocation and remote work outside the hiring country are not considered.

What you will do

• Implement embedded firmware designs and test solutions primarily in C and C#.
• Develop firmware for PACS RFID access control products across different stages of the product lifecycle.
• Debug embedded systems and work with low-level interfaces including GPIO, UART, SPI, and I2C.
• Create design documentation and complete engineering tasks with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and international teams in Agile product teams.
• Support product design and sustaining activities, with occasional travel of 0–10%.

Requirements

• Experience with embedded C, bare-metal development, and RTOS applications.
• Ability to write low- to medium-complexity code and use debuggers, editors, and compilers.
• Experience with software version control and embedded-system debugging.
• Knowledge of Smart Card ISO 7816 and RFID ISO 14443/15693 protocols.
• Experience implementing cryptographic solutions, NUnit, Jenkins, Python scripting, and CMock unit testing.
• Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
