TL;DR
QA Engineer (Embedded Systems & Firmware): Developing and executing manual and automated tests for software, firmware, Windows and web applications, and integrated access-control systems with an accent on functional, integration, system, and regression testing. Focus on creating automated test scripts, validating REST APIs and embedded systems, reproducing complex defects, and improving QA processes in an Agile environment.
Location: Durban, South Africa. Applicants must be legally authorized to reside and work in South Africa. International relocation and remote work outside South Africa are not considered.

What you will do
- Collaborate with Agile team members to understand project requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Develop test plans and test cases for software, firmware, and integrated system solutions.
- Execute manual and automated functional, integration, system, and regression tests.
- Document, prioritize, and report defects, then work with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain automated test scripts and contribute to test automation initiatives.
- Improve QA processes and procedures across the software development and testing life cycles.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a Software Quality Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, techniques, SDLC, and STLC.
- Hands-on experience with Jira, TestRail, Windows applications, and web applications.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Current legal authorization to reside and work in South Africa; immigration sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certification.
- Experience with embedded systems, firmware testing, REST APIs, and integrated system testing.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD environments, Linux, containers, and virtual machines.
- Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, RS232, RS485, SSL/TLS, XML, JSON, and REST services, especially in high-reliability, security, or access-control systems.
