Senior Vulnerability Researcher (Embedded Systems): Conducting vulnerability research and reverse engineering of firmware, software protections, and wireless protocols with an accent on embedded systems, exploit development, and security research tooling. Focus on analyzing complex real-world targets, developing proof-of-concept exploits, automating reverse engineering tasks, and productizing research results.

Location: Onsite in Arlington, Virginia, United States

Salary: $128,873–$195,000 USD annualized

What you will do

  • Conduct vulnerability research and reverse engineering on wireless and embedded systems.
  • Develop tools and techniques for binary patching, vulnerability research, binary fingerprinting, and automation of manual analysis.
  • Create proof-of-concept exploits and maintain organized, product-ready codebases using DevOps best practices.
  • Analyze firmware, software protections, and wireless protocols to identify security flaws.
  • Productize research results or hand off proof-of-concepts to development teams.
  • Collaborate with CNO developers, vulnerability researchers, and hardware engineers in a small-team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Extensive experience with C/C++, Python, and Linux command-line environments.
  • Experience with reverse engineering and vulnerability research using IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, or Ghidra.
  • Expertise in firmware analysis, firmware rehosting, fuzzing and exploit development, binary obfuscation, wireless protocols, file system forensics, or fault injection.
  • Active Top Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Nice to have

  • Binary Ninja API or Ghidra scripting experience.
  • Embedded software development with C/C++ for RTOS or Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic security, secure boot, hardware debugging, JTAG/SWD, SDR, digital signal processing, RF processing, or side-channel analysis.
  • Client-facing technical experience.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
