Lead Full Stack Developer (Python/Vue)

Location: 100% onsite in Arlington, Virginia, with a planned transition to the Herndon, Virginia lab facility; candidates must be able to commute to both locations.

Salary: $171,164–$256,746 USD annualized

What you will do

• Lead technical implementation for critical national security research programs.
• Translate high-level program goals and deliverables into actionable technical tasks.
• Oversee full-stack development from inception through deployment.
• Lead functional engineering staff and provide sound technical direction.
• Support hands-on lab operations in Arlington, with occasional travel to Herndon.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus 7+ years of experience in a similar software engineering role; equivalent extensive experience may substitute for the degree.
• Experience planning and executing technical work, prioritizing tasks, managing schedules, and directing team members.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and JavaScript, with extensive experience in Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, Git, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and GitLab CI/CD tools.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
• Willingness and ability to work 100% in person in a lab environment and commute to Arlington and Herndon are required.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and deploying scalable applications with AWS, OpenStack, or other cloud architectures.
• Professional experience with Vue.js and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or OpenTofu.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense or national security research and development projects.
• Technical mentorship experience with junior and staff-level engineers.
