Software Engineer, Embedded (Aerospace)

Location: Centennial, Colorado, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Salary: $129,000–$241,000 per year, plus potential long-term incentives, equity, flexible PTO, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Develop embedded jet engine control software for tightly coupled subsystems.
• Define, refine, and validate embedded system requirements with propulsion, test, and avionics engineers.
• Build and test real-time software on safety-critical targets, including hardware-in-the-loop systems.
• Establish version control, unit testing, automated testing, and deployment practices for embedded systems.
• Integrate control software with engine models and testbed instrumentation for simulation and test campaigns.
• Own the software lifecycle from prototype through flight-ready implementation.

Requirements

• Experience developing real-time or embedded systems, particularly with Rust, C, or C++.
• Professional software engineering experience with structured requirements, source control, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
• Proficiency with Linux, real-time operating systems such as VxWorks, FreeRTOS, QNX, or RTEMS, or bare-metal development.
• Ability to collaborate across software, electrical, mechanical, propulsion, test, and avionics disciplines.
• Must satisfy the applicable U.S. aerospace technology export authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• Embedded systems experience in aerospace, automotive, or robotics.
• Familiarity with DO-178C or other safety-critical standards.
• Experience with control loops, signal-processing logic, instrumentation, simulation, or actuator command software.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, MISRA, Coverity, or Polyspace.
