Principal Engineer, R&D (Medical Devices)

Location: Deerfield, Illinois, United States; hybrid workplace with a required minimum number of onsite days per week

Salary: $112,000–$154,000 annually, plus potential discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Develop creative engineering solutions for design, development, and sustaining engineering in the Advanced Surgery business.
• Complete Design Control, CAPA, and change control deliverables within schedule and budget.
• Provide technical oversight across R&D, Operations, Quality Systems, Process, Customer, and Supply Chain initiatives.
• Lead cross-functional teams, review and approve design changes, and provide technical product direction.
• Support formulation development, process development, technology transfers, and investigations or assessments.
• Create design concepts, research methodologies, DHF documentation, verification and validation reports, technical drawings, specifications, study plans, and reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• At least 5 years of successful experience in a product development environment.
• Experience creating and managing design documentation and transferring products into manufacturing.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and experience prototyping, testing, and evaluating mechanical designs.
• Ability to deliver technical projects, make critical decisions, and communicate through written and verbal presentations.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with TQM, statistical methods, problem analysis and resolution, materials science, and design of experiments.
