Lead Test Automation Engineer with Playwright

What you will do

• Lead the re-platforming of an IDE-bound quality engineering harness into a scalable, multi-tenant ORBIT service.
• Design headless, API-driven, and event-driven test execution with asynchronous workloads, queues, schedules, long-running workflows, retries, and failure recovery.
• Integrate the platform with requirements, specification, code generation, test generation, execution, promotion workflows, TDM, repository knowledge, and internal engineering services.
• Build telemetry and observability for flake detection, stability scoring, reliability trends, and promotion gating.
• Develop deterministic controls for agentic and LLM-powered workflows while optimizing token consumption and operating costs.
• Set platform engineering standards, mentor engineers, participate in architecture reviews, and collaborate with QE, DevOps, platform engineering, and AI engineering teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including recent backend and platform engineering work.
• Experience re-platforming IDE-centric, desktop, or developer-facing tools into scalable shared services and building highly available distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, with expertise in API design, event-driven systems, workflow orchestration, and microservices.
• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or ROSA environments.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing, Gherkin/BDD, Playwright, Selenium, CI/CD integration, and large-scale test execution platforms.
• Practical experience with agentic AI frameworks and deterministic controls for probabilistic AI systems, including token and cost optimization.

Nice to have

• ROSA/OpenShift platform operations experience.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, AI Gateway architectures, enterprise AI integration, TDM, synthetic data pipelines, and data provisioning platforms.
• Experience leading modernization initiatives in complex brownfield environments.
• Knowledge of insurance domain systems and testing practices.
