Sr Software Engineer (Scala)

Location: New York, New York, United States or Santa Monica, California, United States

Salary: $148,700–$199,400 per year in New York, NY, plus potential bonus, long-term incentive units, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build high-performance, stable, and scalable backend systems for media playback.
• Contribute to services supporting media selection, device customization, and antipiracy technologies.
• Lead architecture discussions, planning sessions, technical proposals, and root cause analyses.
• Establish engineering standards and participate in production on-call support.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge through presentations, tech talks, and technical community activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computer science, information systems, software engineering, or electrical/electronics engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing backend architectures and delivering production backend applications.
• Experience operating large-scale, highly available backend and JVM services.
• Expertise in functional programming patterns and building RESTful Scala APIs.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, threading, concurrency, data structures, algorithms, databases, and design principles.
• Experience with public cloud providers, Git, CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, messaging systems, observability tools, caching technologies, and Agile/Scrum.
