Embedded Software Development Engineer in Test (Embedded SDET) - Nottingham, UK

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated and manual test cases for embedded software in industrial coding and marking equipment.
• Work in a cross-functional Agile Scrum team with software, electronics, and mechanical engineers.
• Execute functional, regression, exploratory, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Create test coverage for new products and maintain regression suites for existing products.
• Investigate, reproduce, and help resolve software defects reported internally or by customers.
• Improve test automation by converting manual testing into scalable and efficient automated solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience testing embedded software and developing automated test solutions.
• Experience in an embedded software test environment and close collaboration with software development engineers.
• Experience creating structured test cases from product requirements and executing software validation strategies.
• Experience with embedded test tools, including Hardware-in-the-Loop environments.

Nice to have

• C#, .NET Framework or .NET Core, including ASP.NET.
• FitNesse, Zephyr, TestComplete, or scripting with VBScript, PowerShell, Bash, JavaScript, or TCL.
• Linux, HTTP, REST, SOAP APIs, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or GitHub Actions.
• Ethernet communication protocols and embedded platforms such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or PLCs.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical datasheets.
