Sym3 Staff Hardware Engineer, Mechanical or Electrical (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Santa Clara, CA; travel required for 10% of the time. Relocation is not eligible.

Salary: $147,000–$202,500 per year.

What you will do

• Work with customers, field teams, and the business unit to identify high-value service opportunities for plasma tools.
• Identify hardware changes needed to improve equipment performance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and vendors to prototype and test hardware.
• Design experiments, collect and analyze data, and compile engineering reports.
• Analyze test results and create reports demonstrating hardware value to customers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Sym3 etch hardware experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, plasma, or a related field.
• Problem-solving skills, including root-cause mechanism development and validation.
• Technical presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems, assess multiple sources of information, and develop new perspectives on existing solutions.
• Ability to explain difficult or sensitive information and build consensus.

Nice to have

• Product development experience.
• Knowledge of best practices, competitive factors, and how the role’s area integrates with other functions.
• Experience acting as a resource for less experienced colleagues or leading small projects.
