Engineer Race Strategy (AI/ML)

Location: Salisbury, North Carolina, United States. Occasional weekend race-event support and travel to races and TRD facilities in California may be required.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain predictive models for real-time race strategy decisions.
• Implement cloud-based Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate strategy risk and reward.
• Analyze historical race data to improve model fidelity and predictive accuracy.
• Collaborate with race strategists and engineers to summarize and visualize model outputs before, during, and after events.
• Research and integrate machine learning, predictive modeling, and probabilistic programming methods.
• Communicate data-driven insights and risk assessments to support real-time decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in professional motorsports and a strong understanding of race strategy fundamentals.
• Experience using predictive modeling and data analytics for race strategy decisions.
• Proficiency in Rust, Python, C++, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
• Experience with probabilistic programming and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, PyMC, or TensorFlow.
• Employment-based visa or other work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI/ML modeling techniques applied to motorsports.
• Understanding of race-car vehicle dynamics and tire modeling.
• Experience developing or using strategy tools in NASCAR.
