Salary: €3,706–€5,760 per month under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

What you will do

  • Integrate a commercial spectroscopic sensor with fermentors for real-time cell measurements.
  • Conduct laboratory work and collect fermentation data from single-cell microbial suspension cultures.
  • Perform signal processing and data analysis to support process understanding.
  • Contribute to automated monitoring and control strategies for bioprocesses.
  • Collaborate with postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, technicians, and consortium partners working with complementary sensing technologies.

Requirements

  • Experience in microbial biotechnology, including fermentation technology.
  • Experience with biochemical analytical techniques such as HPLC, optical density measurement, or spectroscopy.
  • Interest in combining laboratory experimentation with computational data analysis.
  • Ability to learn, solve problems, communicate complex research data, and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Availability to relocate to the Netherlands if required.

Nice to have

  • Programming or data analysis experience in R, Python, or Matlab.
  • Experience across multiple scientific disciplines or a non-linear research career path.
