TL;DR
Production Technician - Chemistry (Soil Science/Laboratory Operations): Processing soil samples and executing chemistry workflows in an onsite, high-throughput laboratory with an accent on SOP compliance, equipment operation, sample preparation, and accurate documentation. Focus on maintaining safe and organized workspaces, troubleshooting laboratory equipment, and supporting efficient cross-functional lab operations.
Location: Onsite in Emeryville, California, United States. Part-time schedule of 30 hours per week, with possible day, evening, weekend, and peak-season shifts across seven days. Travel is less than 5%.
Compensation: $22.00 per hour

What you will do
- Execute soil processing and chemistry workflows according to standard operating procedures.
- Receive, sort, label, prepare, and process soil samples for analysis.
- Operate and monitor laboratory equipment, including ovens, grinders, vacuum sealers, dishwashers, and scales.
- Prepare laboratory materials, reagents, extraction tubes, pipette tips, plates, and other consumables.
- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant workspaces; manage laboratory waste, restocking, and routine equipment maintenance.
- Record production data accurately and collaborate with blending and carbon laboratory teams.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Ability to follow SOPs accurately and consistently in repetitive, high-throughput work.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and safe operation of laboratory equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for routine troubleshooting and escalation of quality or process issues.
- Ability to work onsite in Emeryville and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship or transfer is not available.
Nice to have
- At least one year of experience in a laboratory, production, or manufacturing environment.
- Coursework or training in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
- Experience in soil processing, environmental, or high-throughput production laboratories.
- Experience working with environmental or soil samples.
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
