Senior Aerospace Modeling & Simulation Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; on-site work required

Salary: $140,000–$187,000–$205,700 annually for the Washington, DC metropolitan area

What you will do

• Lead high-fidelity modeling and simulation for space, airborne, and ISR architecture studies, system trades, performance assessments, and mission analyses.
• Model satellites, aircraft, sensor systems, mission scenarios, and operational concepts to evaluate performance and future capabilities.
• Translate customer mission needs into analysis plans, technical approaches, priorities, work packages, scenarios, and acceptance criteria.
• Review models, assumptions, methods, outputs, conclusions, and limitations to maintain technical quality.
• Standardize simulation workflows, reusable scenario components, automation, verification and validation, and technical documentation.
• Interpret complex results, coordinate multidisciplinary contributors, advise program leadership, lead reviews, and mentor junior analysts.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active or current TS/SCI security clearance are mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
• 8+ years of professional experience in space systems modeling and simulation.
• Knowledge of astrodynamics, remote sensing, spacecraft design, aerospace systems operations, or complex systems integration.
• Willingness to work on-site in Herndon, Virginia.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience designing, developing, and implementing complex mathematical algorithms.
• Ability to build standalone engineering tools and scripts with Python and/or Excel.
• Experience analyzing technical risks, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with government stakeholders.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
