Senior Manager, Software Tools Development (AI)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; hybrid

Base salary: $180,000–$225,000 per year, plus RSUs, stock appreciation rights, and a possible sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Lead multiple engineering teams developing AI-powered tools and agents, test infrastructure, data pipelines, and process automation.
• Manage and mentor managers and senior engineers while owning delivery and quality across the organization.
• Set a unified roadmap balancing AI capabilities with infrastructure, pipeline, and automation priorities.
• Define architecture, quality gates, validation, security, and release processes for reliable production delivery.
• Partner with engineering, operations, and business leaders to align priorities, scope integrations, and drive organizational adoption.
• Present tools to internal stakeholders, attract new users, and expand the portfolio of supported products and use cases.

Requirements

• 6–8+ years of experience in software engineering or applied AI.
• Experience managing managers or multiple engineering teams with accountability for delivery and quality.
• Practical knowledge of LLMs and applied AI, including delivery of AI solutions for business problems.
• Experience designing and shipping production AI agents or automation systems, including architecture, integration contracts, and validation.
• Experience with test infrastructure, data pipeline design, and process automation.
• Experience leading cross-functional programs, presenting to senior stakeholders, and driving adoption across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience operating AI-driven automation or triage tools in production with measurable quality or accuracy metrics.
• Background in complex, safety-critical, or high-uptime operational environments.
• Experience managing distributed or contractor engineering teams.
