Software Engineer (AI Manufacturing)

Location: On-site in Hawthorne, Los Angeles, California, five days a week, with very limited exceptions.

Salary: $115,000–$150,000 per year, depending on academic level and demonstrated experience.

What you will do

• Architect and develop software for a production-scale metal 3D printing factory.
• Integrate control algorithms into production software in collaboration with process, control, and mechanical engineers.
• Improve and scale high-rate data acquisition, storage, and retrieval systems.
• Develop geometry processing pipelines that convert customer part designs into machine print instructions.
• Build software systems that improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of autonomous factory operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in a systems-level programming language such as C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience with high-performance systems software, including hardware control, embedded software, high-volume telemetry, graphics rendering, or similar systems.
• Ability to work full-time on-site at the Hawthorne facility five days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience interfacing with microcontrollers, FPGAs, or GPU computing hardware.
• Experience developing embedded or real-time software systems.
• Experience with industrial automation, rockets, spacecraft, robotics, or other hardware interacting with the physical world.
• Experience working in Linux or RTOS environments.
• Strong cross-disciplinary communication, ownership, resilience, and problem-solving skills.
