Software Development Engineer (Embedded Development, Linux, AWS)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize virtual machine monitors for serverless and container workloads.
• Contribute to Firecracker and related open-source hypervisor technologies operating at global scale.
• Build and maintain virtualization infrastructure powering AWS Lambda, Aurora, and other AWS services.
• Design scalable cloud-native solutions and resilient, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, CI/CD practices, monitoring, troubleshooting, and on-call operations.
• Use and contribute to GenAI and AI-powered tools that improve development productivity.

Requirements

• Enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
• Expected graduation between August 2026 and November 2026, or graduation within the previous 24 months.
• Experience with Linux, C or C++, operating systems, computer architecture, networking, memory management, firmware, or low-level systems.
• Experience with device drivers, ARM, bare-metal systems, kernels, system integration, multithreading, microprocessors, or microcontrollers.
• Ability to develop clean, maintainable code and work in an agile environment with operational responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Previous technical internship or demonstrated project experience.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as hypervisors, VMware, or Xen.
• Knowledge of Rust, Java, or C/C++ and strong familiarity with Linux.
• Experience with performant kernel development, low-level drivers, containers, serverless technologies, or large-scale distributed systems.
