Software Engineer I - AI Agents

Location: Redwood City, California, United States; hybrid work required

Salary: $145,000–$165,000 per year, plus potential bonuses, incentives, and equity.

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python, TypeScript, and Go.
• Develop conversational AI agent pipelines, including prompts, tools, workflows, conversation logic, RAG, embeddings, and vector databases.
• Contribute to voice AI systems with speech-to-text, text-to-speech, telephony, and contact-center integrations.
• Investigate latency, audio quality, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency issues in production.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with product managers, senior engineers, and implementation teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Up to three years of software development experience, including internships or academic projects.
• Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or a similar asynchronous programming language.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, databases, and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with Git and standard software development practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven systems and message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
• Exposure to speech systems, WebRTC, SIP, Twilio, or contact-center platforms.
• Experience with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, AI projects, or distributed systems.
