TL;DR
Lead/Staff Electrical Engineer (Hardware Design) (AI-native manufacturing and metal 3D printing): Designing and delivering custom electronics and compute systems for autonomous industrial manufacturing systems with an accent on electrical architecture, high-performance compute, embedded hardware, and motion control. Focus on owning the full hardware lifecycle, modeling and simulating circuits, debugging with laboratory instrumentation, and leading productization and manufacturing.

Location: Los Angeles, CA; full-time onsite presence five days a week is required. The facility is based in Hawthorne, with very limited exceptions to the onsite requirement. Relocation assistance is provided.

Salary: $160,000–$250,000 per year, plus stock options.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and test reliable electronics and compute systems for complex autonomous systems.
  • Drive electrical architecture, product requirements, component selection, circuit analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Debug unexpected issues using laboratory test equipment, custom instrumentation, and dedicated test setups.
  • Model and simulate circuit designs to evaluate performance.
  • Act as a technical lead, own system-level decisions, drive schedules, and maintain a continuous rate of innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers across multiple disciplines throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of professional experience designing and delivering complex electrical hardware.
  • Broad electrical engineering expertise and strong fundamentals, with a first-principles approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead and system owner, accountable for architecture, execution quality, and technical outcomes across the full lifecycle.
  • Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne five days per week.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with FPGA, GPU, and mixed-architecture compute systems, including performance, latency, and complexity tradeoffs.
  • Experience with sensors, high-speed cameras, imaging, data acquisition, motion systems, scanning systems, optomechanical assemblies, or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with embedded microcontroller design and firmware.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation technologies and robotics.
