TL;DR

Senior QC Engineer (SQL, ETL Testing) (GCP Data Platforms): Designing and executing testing strategies for enterprise-scale data products, pipelines, transformations, and governance processes with an accent on SQL-based validation, ETL/ELT testing, and data quality. Focus on investigating complex pipeline issues, validating AI/ML-enabled data capabilities, and improving test automation and platform reliability.

Location: Bulgaria; remote or office work

What you will do

Design and execute testing strategies for enterprise-scale data products covering ingestion, transformation, modeling, governance, quality, and publishing.
Validate large datasets with complex SQL queries, checking accuracy, completeness, consistency, schema integrity, metadata, and lineage.
Test ETL/ELT data pipelines across GCP services, including BigQuery, Spanner, and Cloud Composer.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and non-functional testing for reliable data processing.
Investigate data quality and pipeline issues using monitoring and logging tools while collaborating with Data and Platform Engineers.
Maintain test plans, test cases, validation scenarios, reports, and quality engineering improvements.

Requirements

At least 3 years of hands-on Quality Control or Quality Engineering experience, preferably with data-intensive cloud systems.
Strong experience with GCP data services, particularly BigQuery, Spanner, and Cloud Composer.
Advanced SQL skills, preferably with BigQuery SQL, and experience in data validation and data quality testing.
Understanding of functional, integration, regression, and non-functional testing approaches and structured test documentation.
Experience validating data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes, investigating complex data quality issues, and communicating effectively in English.
Interest in expanding technical expertise toward Data Engineering.

Nice to have

Experience with Google Dataplex, IBM Netezza, GCP monitoring and logging tools, or AI/ML components in data platforms.
Understanding of data mesh principles and enterprise data platform concepts.
