Senior Data Engineer (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Build and maintain SQL-based transformation pipelines that convert raw and bronze-layer data into curated silver and gold tables using dbt or equivalent tools.
• Design dimensional models and semantic layers, including facts, dimensions, star schemas, and snowflake schemas, for Snowflake, MicroStrategy, and Power BI.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and AI agents while considering downstream performance and usability.
• Define shared metrics, calculations, and business logic across BI tools and reporting layers.
• Investigate pipeline failures and incidents, monitor production performance, and implement data quality controls.
• Document new data sources, contribute to sprint planning and delivery, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering and analytics.
• Degree or certification in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Expert-level SQL, including pivots, window functions, complex date calculations, and query optimization at scale in Snowflake.
• Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, semantic layer design, relational and non-relational data models, and silver/gold layer architecture.
• Hands-on ETL/ELT experience and experience with dbt or equivalent transformation tools.
• Experience with MicroStrategy and Power BI or comparable BI tools; Git proficiency and strong Excel skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Airflow, dbt, or Azure Data Factory for orchestration.
• Familiarity with source-to-target mapping and translating legacy transformation logic into Snowflake.
