Staff Fullstack Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area or Austin, Texas

What you will do

• Own complex product areas from discovery and design through implementation, rollout, and iteration.
• Architect and build Node/TypeScript backend services, APIs, authentication systems, and React frontends for a real-time calling platform.
• Design backend and API systems for high-volume workflows, including data contracts and authentication and authorization models.
• Develop foundational platform capabilities for CRM integrations, identity and access, synchronized customer data, and AI-powered prospect enrichment.
• Set standards for technical design, code quality, testing, performance, observability, and progressive delivery.
• Mentor engineers, collaborate with Product and Design, participate in on-call, and improve developer experience and operational reliability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated Staff-level scope, including cross-team technical leadership, strategy, and delivery.
• Experience owning products or features through discovery, deployment, and iteration.
• Expertise with Node.js, TypeScript, REST, WebSocket, and gRPC APIs, plus strong SQL and relational database fundamentals such as PostgreSQL.
• Production experience implementing OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, login and session flows, and token storage and refresh in distributed systems.
• Cloud infrastructure experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure, plus familiarity with CI/CD and progressive delivery.
• Strong product mindset, communication, and ability to connect technical decisions to user and business impact.

Nice to have

• Experience in telephony, SIP softswitches such as FreeSWITCH, or adjacent real-time and event-driven domains.
• Familiarity with Node.js, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform, and FreeSWITCH.
