Designer - Graphic, Digital, AI (On-Site, NYC)

Location: New York, NY; four days per week in the office Monday–Thursday, with remote work on Fridays

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 annual base salary

MATTE is a 360° full-service creative studio delivering strategy, branding, digital design and development, campaigns, content, experiential work, and production for brands and institutions.

What you will do

• Design brand identities, campaigns, presentations, social content, digital experiences, experiential touchpoints, and new business pitches.
• Develop visual systems using typography, composition, color, imagery, and art direction.
• Translate creative concepts and brand systems across web, mobile, social, interactive, screen-based, and physical environments.
• Collaborate with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Strategists, Producers, and other teams from early concepts through final execution.
• Use generative AI tools for ideation, image generation, visual exploration, prototyping, and production.
• Retouch and refine imagery, prepare production-ready files, manage multiple deadlines, and participate in critiques and brainstorms.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional design experience in a creative agency, design studio, brand, or similar fast-paced environment.
• Portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design fundamentals, including typography, layout, composition, visual hierarchy, and brand thinking.
• Experience designing for both static and digital formats.
• Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, plus working knowledge of Figma.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI creative tools and the ability to integrate AI into visual development and creative workflows.
• Ability to work in the New York office four days per week, Monday–Thursday.

Nice to have

• Experience with Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, Runway, Flora, ChatGPT, or similar emerging platforms.
• Awareness of contemporary design, art, fashion, music, entertainment, technology, and culture.
• Curiosity and willingness to experiment with new tools and creative technologies.
