Protocol Engineer (Web3)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid workplace

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy secure smart contracts and protocol implementations across multiple blockchain platforms.
• Build blockchain integrations and solutions in collaboration with backend and product teams.
• Write efficient, well-tested code and participate in security audits.
• Research blockchain technologies, protocols, and DeFi primitives for potential integrations.
• Investigate on-chain issues and contribute to incident response and protocol reliability.

Requirements

• Strong experience building and deploying production smart contracts on major blockchain platforms.
• Deep understanding of blockchain architecture, consensus mechanisms, and cryptographic principles.
• Hands-on experience with Solidity, Rust, Move, or similar smart contract development languages.
• Understanding of DeFi protocols, token standards, and cross-chain communication patterns.
• Knowledge of common smart contract vulnerabilities and security best practices.
• Ability to explain complex blockchain concepts clearly to cross-hirify.globalctional teams.

Nice to have

• Production experience with multiple blockchain ecosystems, including Ethereum, Solana, or L2s.
• Experience with cross-chain bridges, oracles, interoperability protocols, high-volume DeFi protocols, or DEX infrastructure.
• Experience at a crypto startup or Web3 infrastructure company.
• Contributions to blockchain open-source projects or protocol research.
• Experience with formal verification or advanced smart contract testing frameworks.
