Software Engineer - Confluent Cloud Platform (Go/Terraform)

Location: Remote within Canada; listed locations include Markham, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Ontario, and British Columbia. Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship. Applicants working under a permit who are foreign nationals from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine are not eligible.

Salary: CAD 80,000–129,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and maintain features for the Confluent CLI and Terraform Provider, primarily using Go.
• Turn Confluent APIs into intuitive CLI commands and Terraform resources for production automation.
• Collaborate with service teams to deliver integrations and maintain consistent experiences across the CLI and Terraform products.
• Write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and follow engineering and release practices.
• Investigate customer issues and deliver fixes that improve reliability, performance, and usability.
• Contribute to shared frameworks, validation systems, tooling, and operational support across APIs, cloud services, and customer environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–4 years of relevant software-development experience.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software design, and API development.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, Python, C++, or another modern programming language.
• Experience writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining production-quality software.
• Understanding of REST APIs, versioning, and backward compatibility, plus effective written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, Terraform, Terraform Providers, command-line tools, or developer-facing APIs.
• Familiarity with the Terraform Plugin Framework or Terraform Plugin SDK.
• Open-source contribution experience.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Confluent Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
