Principal Service Designer

Location: Remote or hybrid within the United Kingdom, dependent on location

Salary: £59,800–£75,000 per month, subject to location and experience

What you will do

• Lead complex service design projects across multiple sectors and deliver end-to-end, evidence-based services.
• Shape service design practice, quality standards and ways of working across NEC Digital Studio.
• Champion user-centred, inclusive, accessible, ethical and sustainable design principles.
• Direct high-value projects and strategic client partnerships while facilitating multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Mentor, line-manage and recruit colleagues, identify development needs, and contribute to Design School training.
• Support business growth through opportunity shaping, project scoping, costing, risk management, proposals and pitches.

Requirements

• Significant experience delivering complex service design projects and working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrable experience working on public-sector GDS projects.
• Expertise in user-centred design, research planning, systems thinking, strategy and service transformation.
• Experience designing and leading workshops, stakeholder sessions and complex meetings.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, visual and written communication, implementation planning and stakeholder management.
• Pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK is required; documentary evidence will be requested. SC clearance and satisfactory vetting, references and occupational health checks are required; a DBS check may also be needed.
