Staff Data Scientist, Growth (Fintech)

Location: Remote within Canada; optional access to office spaces in Montreal and Toronto.

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 CAD per year, plus equity, performance-based pay increases, health and dental benefits, and paid time off.

What you will do

• Partner with engineering and design teams to improve acquisition, activation, retention, monetization, and customer experience.
• Collaborate with marketing, finance, operations, and product teams to identify growth opportunities and improve business decisions.
• Promote experimentation and decision frameworks, define KPIs, and establish measurable success metrics.
• Apply statistical analysis, forecasting, causal inference, and machine learning to understand user behavior and business performance.
• Analyze user journeys, lifecycle behavior, conversion funnels, and financial performance to identify high-leverage opportunities.
• Build dashboards, models, self-serve tools, and shared data layers that improve visibility and support company priorities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data science, growth analytics, experimentation, or related roles in high-growth environments.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Deep knowledge of experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis, forecasting, and KPI design.
• Strong product and business intuition, with the ability to connect user behavior to company outcomes.
• Experience working cross-functionally, managing multiple projects, and driving ambiguous initiatives from idea to execution.
• Fluency in English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in a startup or high-growth consumer environment.
• Experience with PostHog, Statsig, Amplitude, dbt, Snowflake, and modern data stacks.
• Experience with lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, or growth modeling.
• Existing hirify.global customer experience or familiarity with bitcoin and non-sovereign money.
