FSSC-SQF Auditor (Food Safety)

Location: Houston, US; home-based position with extensive travel throughout North America and occasional overseas travel if needed.

What you will do

• Perform business assurance assessments against FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001 management systems standards.
• Recommend certification, deferral, suspension, or withdrawal of certification based on assessment outcomes.
• Conduct system-level and process-level audits and produce accurate, insightful reports for clients.
• Build and maintain strong external and internal client relationships.
• Travel extensively throughout North America and occasionally overseas if required.
• Follow health and safety rules, report incidents and near misses, and raise safety concerns with the line manager.

Requirements

• GFSI standard auditor certification in FSSC, SQF, BRC, or IFS.
• Substantial experience conducting third-party audits or assessments to FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001, including system-level and process-level auditing.
• At least five years of full-time experience in the food-chain-related industry, including at least two years in quality assurance or food safety functions within food production or manufacturing, retailing, inspection, enforcement, or an equivalent area.
• Experience with a wide range of food products, including confectionery, dry and wet pet food, beverages, and other food products.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, including general microbiology, general chemistry, or food science.
• High standards of personal presentation, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a flexible attitude.
• Strong focus on client service excellence.
• Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work safely and robustly implement health and safety rules, instructions, and systems, including refusing work that compromises health or safety.
