Senior Consultant: Profee Auditor Quality and Education

What you will do

• Perform professional fee coding audits across a variety of medical records and specialties.
• Review ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, E/M leveling, and procedural coding.
• Research complex coding scenarios and support audit findings with official guidelines and regulatory references.
• Translate audit findings and trends into clear education, individualized feedback, and one-on-one coaching.
• Participate in peer review, audit-the-auditor, calibration, and other quality assurance activities.
• Communicate audit rationale and constructive feedback to coders, auditors, and leadership.

Requirements

• Active AHIMA or AAPC certification, such as CPC, CPMA, CCS-P, or COC.
• 3–5 years of hands-on professional fee coding and medical record auditing experience in a multispecialty or hospital-affiliated setting.
• Experience across multiple specialties, including emergency medicine, hospitalist care, primary care, cardiology, neurology, behavioral health, and ophthalmology.
• Advanced knowledge of professional coding guidelines, CPT conventions, CMS requirements, NCCI edits, and profee billing requirements.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Experience with EHR systems such as EPIC or Cerner, automated auditing tools, and secure file transfer in compliance with HIPAA policies.
