Threat Research Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role based in Montreal, Bratislava, or Prague

Salary: From €2,700 gross per month for the Bratislava location, plus a performance bonus of up to 10% of the basic salary paid twice per year.

What you will do

• Build and maintain internal tools that unify sample metadata from telemetry, sandbox, malware repository, and threat intelligence systems.
• Develop automated pipelines that transfer analysis outputs into threat intelligence platforms such as MISP.
• Generate customer-facing deliverables, including IOC tables, indicator packages, and report skeletons.
• Create researcher-facing web applications and workflows for sample lookup, triage, analysis tracking, and tagging.
• Own the tooling backlog and collaborate with engineering teams responsible for upstream systems.
• Improve reliability, performance, correctness, runbooks, dashboards, alerting, and automation.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience with Python and JavaScript, including designing, building, and maintaining operational Python systems.
• Experience creating and maintaining APIs, databases, queues, schemas, and integrations across multiple systems, including query optimization.
• Experience building web applications and familiarity with threat intelligence workflows.
• Experience with Docker or similar container technology, CI/CD, Git, and test automation.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices for systems handling malicious files and sensitive data.
• Strong collaboration and discovery skills for converting researcher pain points into shipped tooling.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with malware analysis workflows, sample metadata, and sandbox data sources such as CAPE, Cuckoo, Joe Sandbox, or Any.Run.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and malware behavior mapping.
• Experience with AI-assisted development or researcher-facing AI features, including report generation and structured extraction.
• Experience building CLI, TUI, or WebUI tooling, or delivering tools to threat intelligence and security research teams.
• Participation in CTFs.
