Backend Engineer (Python)

Location: Fully remote for candidates in Slovakia, Serbia, Hungary, Spain, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, or Poland

What you will do

• Build and maintain Python pipelines for marketing data integration and ELT.
• Develop and maintain API integrations, including rate limits, pagination, custom authentication, and inconsistent error handling.
• Pull data from third-party APIs, normalize it, and deliver it reliably at scale.
• Improve pipeline performance and reliability through concurrency, caching, and data modeling.
• Write clean, tested production code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate asynchronously with engineering, product, and support.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional programming experience with strong production-grade Python.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, concurrency with threads or async, and data structures.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and handling their inconsistencies.
• Comfort working in Linux development and production environments.
• Basic SQL knowledge.
• Availability for a fully remote, contractor-style engagement from one of the listed European countries.

Nice to have

• ETL or ELT and data integration experience.
• Experience with marketing or ad-tech APIs.
• Production experience with PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Experience with Docker and GitLab CI/CD.
