Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) (AI)

Location: Based in or around Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico; relocation to Mérida required within 60 days if not currently local

What you will do

• Build and maintain automated test suites across API, UI, and integration layers using Playwright, Pytest, and similar frameworks.
• Use Claude Code and Anthropic's API to accelerate test authoring and operate the story-to-test pipeline from Jira acceptance criteria to reviewed automated tests.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions for execution on every commit.
• Generate synthetic PHI test data with LLM tools while following HIPAA requirements.
• Validate AI-generated test cases and Verato AI features, including Smart Steward and match explainability.
• Prioritize regression risk, triage failures, identify root causes, and serve as the quality gate for releases moving from testing through UAT to production.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or SDET roles.
• Strong development skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript, including experience designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
• Experience building browser test suites and testing REST APIs with tools such as Postman, Pytest with requests, or RestAssured.
• Experience integrating tests with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Ability to read application code and design effective test strategies, with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional English proficiency is required for collaboration with US-based teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Claude Code, AI coding assistants, LLM-based test generation, or prompt engineering.
• Playwright experience, preferably with additional browser testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or EHR integrations.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as k6.
• Exposure to AWS or GCP and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
