Lead Gameplay Engineer (NPC Behavior)

Location: In-office, full-time from Warsaw, Poland

Salary: 39,800–54,670 PLN gross monthly

CD Projekt RED creates story-driven role-playing games, including The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, and is developing the new Project Hadar IP.

What you will do

• Build and lead a team responsible for NPC community and behavior technologies.
• Design, implement, optimize, and maintain large-scale NPC behavior systems.
• Collaborate with game designers, animators, writers, engineers, QA, production, and other specialists.
• Define technical scope, timelines, priorities, and technical standards.
• Debug, profile, and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Lead code reviews, rapid prototyping, R&D, and testing of new technologies.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience developing NPC behavior systems in AA/AAA projects.
• Proven experience leading a development team and shipping at least one game.
• Expertise in C++ coding principles and practices.
• Strong communication, team leadership, risk management, and team development skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Familiarity with agile ways of working and collaborative development.

Nice to have

• Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
