AI SWE / OpenStack Service Engineer (m/f/d) (AI)

Location: Košice, Slovakia; remote working is available only within Slovakia due to European taxation regulation.

Salary: negotiable, with a base salary from €2,100 gross per month, plus variable compensation and other financial benefits.

What you will do

• Analyse OpenStack-style services, APIs, configuration flows, databases, dependencies, and operational assumptions.
• Use AI coding agents to explore large multi-repository codebases, reconstruct call flows, analyse interfaces, and generate technical documentation.
• Diagnose build, dependency, container, runtime configuration, and reproducibility issues.
• Create service maps, dependency notes, API summaries, risk observations, and onboarding documentation for receiving teams.
• Collaborate with DevOps, testing, security, and architecture specialists to validate findings and define engineering backlog items.
• Identify technical debt, maintainability risks, hidden coupling, missing documentation, and areas requiring expert review.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud platform engineering, DevOps-oriented development, or technical software handover.
• Strong Python skills and experience with at least one backend or systems language such as Go, Java, C, C++, or Rust.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools for codebase exploration, documentation, refactoring, or build issue triage.
• Good understanding of OpenStack-derived architectures, cloud control planes, distributed services, APIs, CI/CD, container delivery, and Linux.
• Experience with tools such as Git, GitLab or GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD.
• Strong analytical discipline and the ability to produce traceable technical outputs in confidential enterprise environments.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with OpenStack components including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone, Glance, and Kubernetes integration patterns.
• Experience with AI coding environments such as Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, Cline, Continue, or VS Code AI extensions.
• Knowledge of coding-capable models such as Claude, DeepSeek Coder, Qwen-Coder, CodeGeeX, StarCoder, Code Llama, or Mistral.
