AI Engineer (Banking)

Location: Trondheim, Norway; flexible hybrid work model.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate cloud services, APIs, and integrations behind AI-enabled mobile banking experiences.
• Identify practical opportunities for AI in mobile banking products and software engineering practices.
• Define architectures, patterns, and best practices for secure and reliable AI-enabled solutions.
• Use AI-assisted workflows to analyze and modernize existing technology and support development, testing, and operations.
• Take solutions from prototype to production, including integration, testing, and operational readiness.
• Continuously improve quality, security, performance, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience developing and operating production software.
• Experience with data analysis, applied AI, machine learning, and identifying opportunities that create practical business value.
• Backend engineering experience with object-oriented development, APIs, integrations, and scalable service architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated delivery, monitoring, observability, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with secure data handling and responsible AI use in regulated environments.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, design, product, and mobile disciplines while connecting technical decisions with customer value, privacy, security, and banking regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java and Spring or Spring Boot, Python, OpenShift or Kubernetes, Git, GitHub Actions, and Grafana.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining backend services, APIs, and integrations.
• Experience with large language model integration, context and prompt design, and AI output evaluation.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, agentic workflows, function calling, or AI orchestration frameworks.
