TL;DR

Salary: $185,000–$240,000 per year

hirify.global is a fusion power company developing the Polaris prototype and the Orion fusion power plant to produce clean electricity.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and maintain software for plant control, diagnostics, automation, and operator workflows.
  • Develop interfaces connecting distributed sensors, actuators, controllers, databases, and visualization tools.
  • Build tools for machine-health monitoring, system-performance analysis, test execution, and plant operations.
  • Create graphical user interfaces for engineers, operators, and scientists working with fusion machines and testbeds.
  • Implement real-time control, data acquisition, and system coordination software.
  • Integrate software with complex hardware systems in collaboration with electrical, firmware, mechanical, IT, operations, and science teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong programming ability in C++, Rust, or a similar systems programming language, plus Python or another high-level scripting language.
  • Experience interfacing software with hardware, sensors, instruments, control systems, or other real-world systems.
  • Comfort working in Linux and across testing, version control, debugging, deployment, and production support.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Everett and stay close to the hardware, operators, and system users.

Nice to have

  • Experience with distributed control systems, industrial automation, SCADA, PLCs, or machine control.
  • Knowledge of the V-model, precision timing, synchronization, PTP, deterministic systems, embedded Linux, or real-time systems.
  • Experience with time-series databases, data pipelines, visualization tools, operator interfaces, dashboards, Docker, CI/CD, or deployment automation.
  • Experience in high-energy systems, aerospace, robotics, manufacturing, power systems, scientific instrumentation, or other complex hardware environments.
