WAN Network Engineer

What you will do

• Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize WAN connectivity across leased lines and dark fiber for low latency and 99.999% availability.
• Coordinate with telecom providers and ISPs on circuit provisioning, upgrades, and issue resolution.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize routing and security protocols, including BGP, IPSec tunnels, MACsec, VXLAN, and EVPN.
• Monitor latency, packet loss, capacity, and traffic patterns; plan circuit upgrades and hardware refreshes before bottlenecks occur.
• Implement redundancy, failover, QoS, and traffic engineering, and provide Tier 3 support with root cause analysis.
• Support cloud connectivity and network modernization projects across AWS, Azure, and GCP while maintaining documentation and operating procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in WAN engineering, service provider networks, or hyperscale data center environments.
• Strong knowledge of BGP routing and WAN technologies; CCIE or JNCIE certification is valued.
• Experience with Arista, Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto networking equipment.
• Experience with cloud networking, hybrid network architectures, and network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Kentik, or ThousandEyes.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance.
