Senior Product Engineer (PHP)

Location: Remote within the United Kingdom

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per year

What you will do

• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, QA Engineer, and Product Manager to design solutions for feature requests.
• Maintain software connecting internal systems and build functionality to centralise add-on purchases for the hirify.global Platform.
• Lead detailed feature documentation, including diagrams for shared technical understanding.
• Develop and implement advanced tests for new features to improve coverage and reliability.
• Produce well-architected, efficient, and scalable code using established design patterns and engineering methodologies.
• Lead code reviews, pair programming, technical talks, workshops, and team learning while mentoring colleagues.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with object-oriented programming and software development.
• Significant experience developing backend services with PHP.
• Experience integrating third-party systems and APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of software engineering principles including SOLID and DRY, plus strong relational database skills.
• Leadership, collaboration, mentoring, and proactive problem-solving skills.
• Good written and spoken English is required; the headquarters is based in London.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise solutions and large-scale systems.
• React experience, or Vue experience with willingness to learn React.
• Scrum or other agile development experience.
• Cloud computing, Docker, and containerisation experience.
• Knowledge of refactoring, clean code, domain-driven design, and test-driven development.
