Senior Product Engineer (PHP)

Location: Remote

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per year

What you will do

• Work with the Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, QA Engineer, and Product Manager to solutionise feature requests.
• Maintain software connecting internal systems and build software to centralise add-on purchases for the Arbor Platform.
• Create detailed technical documentation and diagrams for new feature development.
• Develop and implement advanced tests to improve feature coverage and reliability.
• Produce well-architected, efficient, and scalable code using established design patterns and software engineering methodologies.
• Lead code reviews, pair programming, technical talks, workshops, and mentoring activities.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with object-oriented languages and software development.
• Considerable experience with PHP and demonstrable experience building backend services in PHP.
• Significant experience integrating third-party systems and APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of software engineering principles including SOLID and DRY, plus strong relational database expertise.
• Experience with enterprise solutions and large-scale systems; experience with React, cloud computing, Docker, and containerisation is valuable.
• Good written and spoken English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, or experience with Vue and willingness to learn React.
• Familiarity with Scrum or other agile development processes.
• Knowledge of refactoring, clean code, domain-driven design, and test-driven development.
