Software Engineer, Performance Tooling and Infrastructure (Autonomous Driving)

Salary: $152,000–$228,000 base pay annually, plus annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain job orchestration for performance benchmarks across physical bench-top robot-compute systems.
• Integrate benchmarking into CI/CD as merge-blocking and release-blocking quality gates.
• Build monitoring, alerting, self-healing automation, and observability for the hardware fleet.
• Design performance data pipelines covering CPU/GPU utilization, memory bandwidth, latency, and scheduling jitter, with dashboards and regression detection.
• Guide bare-metal OS and system configuration, including Linux kernel tuning, boot infrastructure, networking, and hardware bring-up.
• Set the platform roadmap, make architecture decisions, plan hardware allocation, and collaborate with Hardware Engineering, NPI, SRE, Perception, Behavior, and Data Science.

Requirements

• 3+ years of industry software engineering experience.
• Strong Python and working C++ proficiency, with a focus on clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Experience building data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, storage, visualization, and analytical workflows; familiarity with SQL.
• Deep Linux systems and bare-metal infrastructure experience, including kernels, boot issues, systemd, networking, storage, and compute.
• Experience setting technical vision and roadmaps, aligning stakeholders, and presenting trade-offs to senior engineering leadership.
• Comfort using AI-native development tools and working effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

Nice to have

• Performance tooling experience with perf, Perfetto, pprof, eBPF, NVIDIA Nsight Systems, or NVIDIA CUPTI.
• Robotics or autonomous-vehicle experience, especially with the NVIDIA DriveOS stack.
