Staff AI Data Platform Engineer

Salary: $138,500–$173,000 typical starting range

What you will do

• Design and ship secure MCPs and API integrations connecting data sources with business capabilities.
• Help define the architecture and strategy for how data is stored, persisted, and connected.
• Build and improve model provider gateways, RAG pipelines, and vector database implementations.
• Design and scale distributed systems with attention to consistency, availability, performance, and security.
• Drive projects from problem identification through delivery with minimal handholding.
• Mentor peers and raise the technical standard as the engineering team scales.

Requirements

• 7+ years of senior-level engineering experience with end-to-end ownership of technical problems.
• Experience building secure API integrations and understanding modern authentication patterns, including OAuth 2.0 and SSO.
• Practical AI experience, including use of AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake and vector databases including Pinecone, Weaviate, or pgvector.
• Familiarity with data lineage, access control, and data quality practices.
• Cloud engineering fundamentals with AWS, infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar, and production-quality Python or comparable language development.

Nice to have

• Production experience with RAG pipelines, LLMs, and vector database implementations.
• Exposure to model provider gateways or local and open-source model routing.
• Personal AI projects, local model deployments, or agent-to-agent workflows.
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
