Sr. Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid (NYC). Must be based in the USA and comfortable visiting the NYC office twice a week.

Salary: $140,000 - $215,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and optimize backend microservices and cloud solutions to counter targeted cyber assaults.
• Innovate with Large Language Models to enhance and refine Charlotte AI's capabilities.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for the training and implementation of custom LLMs.
• Collaborate across teams to define and devise scalable architectural solutions.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of features: development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Mentor fellow engineers and adhere to rigorous coding standards and testing paradigms.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience in distributed systems.
• Experience with Language Models, Data Science, and Data Engineering.
• Proven track record with big data and microservices architecture.
• Deep understanding of scalability, including sharding, partitioning, and concurrency.
• Strong commitment to engineering best practices, TDD, and peer code reviews.
• Must be based in the USA.

Nice to have

• Existing exposure to Go, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, or Elasticsearch.
• Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
