Staff Software Engineer, Behavior ML Data (AI)

Salary: $193,930–$352,290 base pay annually, plus annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines that convert autonomy data streams into targeted training datasets.
• Lead data quality, anomaly detection, and out-of-distribution data initiatives for model training and deployment.
• Develop ML tooling and visualization systems for data introspection, model failure analysis, sample querying, and distribution-shift investigation.
• Collaborate with autonomy, infrastructure, and data operations teams to define data interfaces, APIs, quality standards, and automated QC workflows.
• Operationalize active learning and data mining systems, including large-scale inference, embedding computation, vector database management, and informative sample selection.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience architecting and delivering complex, multi-system ML data engineering systems with technical leadership.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, with experience managing petabyte-scale data.
• Understanding of end-to-end ML data pipelines and their interaction with model training and evaluation.
• Experience turning data concepts such as uncertainty sampling into stable, continuously operating production services.
• Subject matter expertise or research experience in machine learning, deep learning, or robotics, with familiarity with ML for autonomous driving.

Nice to have

• Experience working with productionized AI systems and large-scale ML data engines.
• Experience with workflow orchestration, data understanding interfaces, and ML frameworks for foundation model training.
• Expertise in active learning, pre-training, and data-centric AI for autonomous systems.
