TL;DR
Project Analyst, (SETA 1) - Hybrid Work Schedule (Future Need) (R&D and SBIR/STTR programs): Supporting science and engineering innovation programs for the National Science Foundation through grants management, project coordination, administrative process improvement, and data analysis with an accent on federal research programs and technology innovation. Focus on coordinating award review processes, managing schedules and deliverables, analyzing research data, and informing programmatic recommendations.

Location: Hybrid work schedule based in Alexandria, Virginia, United States of America

Salary: $61,232.00–$104,094.00 annually

What you will do

  • Support technology, research and development, and programmatic activities for National Science Foundation innovation programs.
  • Manage and coordinate grants, cooperative agreements, acquisitions, awards, and related review processes.
  • Improve administrative business processes and coordinate meetings among program participants.
  • Manage tasks, schedules, program meetings, data sharing, and deliverable feedback.
  • Use project management, scheduling, data analytics, survey, and visualization tools to support program decisions.
  • Develop business analysis insights and recommendations that improve processes and support program goals.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in grants management, project management, and supporting research and development projects.
  • 2+ years of Federal or State Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer program experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust authorization.
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication, multitasking, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with project management tools, technical note capture, reporting, meeting coordination, and deliverable feedback.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD degree.
  • Experience in the innovation ecosystem, federal research agencies, or a Science, Engineering, and Technical Assistance role.
  • Experience with university incubators, accelerators, venture capital organizations, or other SBIR/STTR support organizations.
  • Familiarity with NSF’s partnerships landscape study.
  • Expertise in deep technology areas such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, biological technologies, or emerging science and engineering fields.
