Staff Machine Learning Engineer (Logistics)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Sunnyvale, CA, United States

Salary: $137,100–$201,600, $167,800–$246,800, or $203,500–$299,300 USD annually, depending on market and level.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and operate large-scale production ML systems for assignment and fulfillment estimation.
• Develop real-time decisioning solutions for delivery assignment, routing, batching, timing, and fulfillment quality.
• Lead 0→1 ML initiatives and define architectures, modeling standards, and deployment practices for logistics systems.
• Establish practices for model monitoring, retraining, reliability, and governance.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Platform teams across hirify.global business lines.
• Define an LLM-inspired foundation model for intelligence across logistics and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry experience building and deploying production-scale machine learning systems.
• Strong machine learning fundamentals and experience applying them to large-scale production systems.
• Fluency in Python and hands-on experience with modern ML and deep learning frameworks.
• Experience launching and operating mission-critical ML models or systems, including monitoring, retraining, reliability, and governance.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects end to end and influence stakeholders across multiple teams.
• Experience shipping large-scale ML models for recommendation, advertising, marketplaces, logistics, or related domains, including knowledge distillation into efficient production models.
